This article is deeply disturbing on so many levels. That so many Americans don't know such a basic fact or are hearing and believing lies to the contrary is just wrong. I firmly believe that part of being a good citizen is knowing something about the world around you, particularly when it comes to electing politicians who have a lot of power over many issues in citizen's lives. And, once again, it proves that a poorly-informed electorate is prone to listening to demagogues, who will, surprise, surprise, LIE TO YOU.
