IHOP and Animal Cruelty
They are buying eggs from suppliers who keep the chickens in cages so small they can't sttretch their wings. According to this source, many of their competitors are moving away from using these kinds of suppliers.
You're absolutely right, Mary. All of IHOP's eggs come from hens confined in barren wire cages so small the birds can barely move an inch. Other restaurants, like Denny's, Wendy's, Burger King, Quizno's, Carl's Jr., Hardee's, and many are moving away from this cruelty by switching some of their eggs to cage-free. Unfortunately, IHOP has refused to follow the lead of its competitors, even after IHOP's home state of California made this extreme confinement practice a criminal offense.
Thanks for the informed comment. In some ways the article has good news in that the other chains are switching to cage-free eggs, so putting pressure on IHOP to join the movement may yield good results.
