Department of Labor in the Bush Years: A Damage Assessment

"Under Bush, the Labor department has been stacked against workers' rights." Some people wonder why I consider Bush the worst President in history, and article details how badly the Bush Department of Labor has served the interests of workers... and that is just one part of the whole package of incompetence and serving the interests of corporations over individuals that has marked this administration.

Top Ten Most Disturbing Facts and Impressions of Sarah Palin

Good post from Alternet as to the most disturbing aspects of the Palin nomination. I suppose it looks like I'm bashing Palin, but I truly think that her nomination shows that John McCain's judgement is bad, and that isn't a quality we need - AGAIN - in a President. These posts illustrate why I think so.

t r u t h o u t | John McCain Wants to Drill in Your Toilet:

Article pointing out that drilling here, drilling now, will not ever add a great amount of oil into our economy, and what's there won't hit the market for years, but the Republicans are counting on the media to not bring those facts to the public's attention. Talks about an interesting, but impractical idea to give the media more money when its readers or viewers are able to answer questions about the world correctly.

The Worst Vice-Presidential Nominee

"Selecting Sarah Palin as its choice for a vice presidential candidate is perhaps the worst such choice in American History." Note: Digg has a warning that there may be inaccuracies in this article - but I don't see what, since it is an opinion piece. "The United States economy has grown faster, on average, under Democratic presidents than under Republicans, a new book says." A Tenacious Reformer's Swift Rise

"She has been known, at times, as 'Sarah Barracuda.'" More on Palin. Confirms that she supports teaching creationism in public schools, which alone is enough for me to be opposed to her. Interesting that her husband is part Native American.

Sarah Palin and Feminists for Life

Sarah Palin is such an interesting choice for McCain, and she may or may not energize the party. But she is a bad choice for America, in many ways, and I say that as someone who wants more women in high political office. She is too inexperienced, first of all, especially in foreign affairs. She is pro-life, even in the cases of rape or incest, and this article shows that the group she is working with has NOT put as much real effort into finding alternative choices for young women who are pregnant, nor into teaching them now to not get pregnant, She may be anti-contraception and a young earth creationist, though I need those confirmed. Anyone who is a creationist simply should not be in a position to influence science and technology policy. Moreover she is a global warming denier, and gets very bad ratings from environmental groups.Women in High Office: YES! But not THIS woman.
